DINNER & EVENT RESERVATIONS

Reservations are a must for all Club social events and for dinner. Reservations for dinner can be made up to 14 days in advance. Special Event reservations may be made up to one month prior to the event starting at 9:00 a.m. (i.e. 9:00 a.m. on June 4th for July 4th reservations) Reservations can be made instantly via the Member App or by calling 828-526-3531 Tuesday through Saturday to speak with the Receptionist or the Food & Beverage Manager. If you are not seated within 15 minutes beyond your reservation time, your table may be given to another member . Your assistance in adhering to this policy will enable us to further enhance your Club experience.

As families gather in the mountains to celebrate this special Independence Day, we look forward to welcoming members, children, grandchildren, and guests for a month filled with traditions, friendly competition, and unforgettable experiences. We begin the festivities with family favorites that bring generations together and create lasting memories. From Kids Day, Bingo Night and family activities to the

These traditions have become a cherished part of summer for so many families, and it is always rewarding to see members creating new memories while continuing those that have been enjoyed for generations. The energy and excitement throughout the Club during this holiday week truly reflect the unique spirit of our community. Annual Cart Parade, Duck Race, and our beloved July 4 BBQ Celebration, there will be opportunities for everyone to participate, reconnect with friends, and enjoy all that makes Cullasaja such a special place. th

Competition in Full Swing As the month continues, our competitive events calendar shifts into high gear. Golf enthusiasts can look forward to a Crazy 8’s Golf Event, Couples’ Cup, WGA Patriot’s Cup, and the Men’s Invitational Tennis will feature the Ladies Doubles Championships along with the popular Fourth of July Tennis Mixer, while our croquet players will enjoy a Patriot Play Croquet Event and the Ladies’ Doubles Croquet Championship. Whether participating or cheering from the sidelines, these events showcase the camaraderie, sportsmanship, and friendly competition that define life at Cullasaja.

Dear Members, What an extraordinary summer we are experiencing at the Club! The growth and enthusiasm surrounding our Beverage Program is incredible, and thanks to your passionate engagement, we are fostering one of the most dynamic wine cultures in the area. To kick things off, I am thrilled to share a historic milestone: for the first time in club history, our wine lockers are 100% sold out! Securing full occupancy is a testament to your shared passion for great wine. For those with a locker, I hope you are enjoying that personalized touch to your dining. We are already brainstorming ways to expand and accommodate the overwhelming future demand. Thank you all for making this program a resounding success!

Our recent wine dinner featuring Wayfarer Estate and special guest Joe Hunter was a true high-water mark for our culinary and beverage teams. Wayfarer is renowned for world-class, coastal Sonoma Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that possess an incredible sense of place. Paired with a custom menu designed to elevate every nuance in the glass, the evening was a masterclass in flavor. A massive thank you to Joe Hunter for sharing his vineyard stories, and to all the members who brought such wonderful energy to the room.

That momentum was on full display at our recent Second Annual Wine Showcase. We hosted 12 of our top distributors, who brought an unparalleled selection of global and domestic gems to our tasting tables. The response was staggering: together, we sold over 71 cases of wine in a single afternoon!

Seeing the room filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and members discovering new favorites is exactly why we love hosting these events. Whether you were stocking your home cellars or filling your new club lockers, thank you for an absolute triumph.

A quick reminder for the entire membership: You do not need to be a Wine Club member to take advantage of our Bulk Wine Sale Program.

While wine has taken center stage lately, we are excited to expand our palate with a brand-new club tradition. Please join us on Thursday, July 16th for our first-ever Beer Dinner, presented with the legendary Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Since releasing their flagship Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada has been a pioneer of the craft beer community. For this event, we are trading the traditional sit-down format for a dynamic, stationed strolling dinner. Our culinary team has designed exceptional food stations, each meticulously paired with a selection from Sierra Nevada's world-class portfolio.

My philosophy is simple: If I can source it, I am happy to get it for you—no matter the quantity. Whether you need a single elusive bottle for a gift, a few cases of crisp Sauvignon Blanc for a summer barbecue, or want to build a home cellar from scratch, let me do the heavy lifting.

On a final, personal note, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the team and membership for the opportunity to attend the prestigious Oregon Pinot Camp (OPC) for its 25th iteration. OPC extends just under 200 invitations globally each year to wine professionals, and representing our Club on this international stage was a massive honor. I spent several intensive days fully immersed in the Willamette Valley, learning directly from pioneering winemakers. We dug into cool-climate viticulture, unique soil compositions, and the future of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. I am incredibly grateful for the club's support of my continuing education. I returned with fresh inspiration, cutting-edge knowledge, and exclusive new vineyard connections that I cannot wait to share with you straight from our cellar. Thank you all again for your unparalleled support and curiosity. I look forward to raising a glass together around the clubhouse soon!

The energy throughout the club has been unmistakable, from bustling dining rooms and sold-out events to the familiar sight of friends and families gathering around great food and shared experiences. A TEAM BUILT FOR EXCELLENCE

One of the greatest strengths of our operation this season has been our people. Over the past four years, we have had the privilege of working alongside many talented culinary and service professionals. This season, we were fortunate to bring together some of the very best individuals from those previous teams, creating one of the strongest and most experienced staffs we have assembled to date. Their professionalism, passion, and commitment to hospitality have been evident in every meal served and every event executed. Whether preparing dinner service for a busy Saturday evening or helping create memorable club events, this team has embraced a culture of excellence that continues to elevate the member experience.

INNOVATION IN THE KITCHEN Many of you have heard us speak about PlateCraft, our annual culinary retreat that brings chefs from around the country to Cullasaja each November. Through our continued partnership with Rational, one of the premier equipment manufacturers in the culinary world and a valued PlateCraft sponsor, we have been able to introduce some

of the most advanced cooking technology currently available in our industry. These systems allow us to achieve greater consistency, precision, and efficiency in our daily production while maintaining the handcrafted quality that defines our culinary philosophy. Simply put, they help us deliver better results for our members while allowing our team to focus more attention on creativity, execution, and service.

This month, we are excited to unveil a new dining experience: our Luxe Pre-Order Menu.

Designed for those special evenings when only the finest ingredients will do, this exclusive offering will feature a curated selection of premium items available with 24 hours advance notice. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy exceptional ingredients such as Japanese Wagyu beef, cold-water lobster tails, premium caviar, and Grade A foie gras, prepared with the care and attention these products deserve. The Luxe Menu allows us to source and prepare these specialty items specifically for your dining experience while expanding the range of luxury offerings available within the club. We look forward to sharing additional details as this exciting program debuts.

JULY CELEBRATIONS July is always one of the most festive months at Cullasaja, and this year promises to be especially memorable. We look forward to celebrating our nation's 250th Independence Celebration alongside many of the traditions that make summer in the mountains so special. Family Bingo Night continues to provide a wonderful opportunity for members of all ages to gather and enjoy an evening together, while the Cart Parade remains one of the most anticipated and spirited events of the season. We are excited to see the creativity, enthusiasm, and community spirit that these events inspire each year.

TWILIGHT DINING SERIES Our Twilight events continue to be among the most popular dining experiences of the season, and July's lineup offers something for everyone. This month, members can look forward to our All-American Buffet, celebrating the flavors and traditions of summer; Italian Night, featuring classic regional favorites and house-made specialties; and our Steak House Buffet, showcasing premium cuts, classic accompaniments, and the kind of robust flavors that make for an unforgettable evening. These events allow our team to showcase a broader range of culinary styles while creating the lively atmosphere that has become a hallmark of summer dining at Cullasaja.

Each month, we'll offer member favorites like Joyce Farms Chicken, Buckhead Beef, Hidden Vale's Microgreens, soups, house made pastries and desserts, prepackaged to-go meals, and various specialty items. Remember to pre-order and pick up on Sunday afternoon.

in Full Swing GOLF UPDATE SUMMER

It’s hard to believe we are already in July. The summer season at Cullasaja is flying by, and what an incredible start it has been. From tournament competition to junior golf development and memorable social events, June showcased everything that makes our golf community so special. Our Junior Golf Camp was once again a tremendous success. It was fantastic to watch our young golfers learn, improve, and grow in confidence throughout the week. Through instruction, games, and Operation 36, our juniors continued building strong fundamentals while having a great time. The enthusiasm and energy they bring to the club is truly special, and the future of Cullasaja golf is bright. JUNIOR GOLF CAMP

One of the biggest highlights of June was the debut of our brand-new event, Drivers, Putters & Wedges, held on June 12th. This inaugural event exceeded expectations and delivered a fantastic evening for members and their families. With live concert by The Parks Brothers, outstanding food stations, and interactive golf competitions, the atmosphere around the Fairway Café was electric. DRIVERS, PUTTERS & WEDGES

Members competed in Long Drive, Closest to the Hole, and our new Putting Course Challenge, which showcased our beautiful new short game area. It was especially exciting to see members enjoying the new practice area in such a fun and relaxing setting. Events like this remind us that golf at Cullasaja is about much more than tournament scores—it’s about creating memorable experiences together.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS

MIXED MEMBER-GUEST RECAP June also brought one of our most anticipated events of the season, the Mixed Member-Guest Tournament: “Par Wars – May the Course Be with You.” This year’s event delivered outstanding competition, fun themed activities, and unforgettable moments both on and off the course. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event another huge success. Congratulations to members, Dr. Alice Quinif and Jerry Honea , along with their guests John Sims and Freida Harrell on an impressive victory and a well-earned title.

Our WGA Member/Member Championship once again highlighted the competitive spirit and camaraderie of our Women’s Golf Association. Congratulations to Cindy Price & Maureen Gamble – 9 Hole Champions (left) and Cindy Kuykendall & Cameron Tyer – 18 Hole Champions (right) on capturing this year’s championship. The continued enthusiasm and participation from our WGA members is greatly appreciated and helps make the women’s program such an important part of our golf community. WGA MEMBER-MEMBER

SATURDAY NIGHT SHOOT-OUTS

The June Shoot-Out held on Saturday, June 27th brought plenty of excitement as teams battled in one of our most entertaining formats. The Shoot-Out continues to be a favorite event for players and spectators alike, and we encourage everyone to come out and participate or cheer on the finalists. Our next Shoot-Out takes place on July 18th, and if previous months are any indication, it should deliver another exciting finish. Whether competing or watching, this event always provides plenty of drama and fun. HOW THE SHOOT-OUTS WORK? Sign up as a two-person team and play an alternate shot format with elimination to have a monthly winner. The lowest net team scores will advance to the next hole until only two teams remain going to the 9th and final hole. Teams can be men or women or a mix. Handicaps will be given at 50% of the team total off the low team in the Shoot-Out. Strokes are given as they fall on the card and will be adjusted when the low team is eliminated. Looking ahead, July brings some of the most exciting events of the summer. We are pleased to welcome Jon Tattersall to Cullasaja for his Golf School on July 8th , with limited spaces still available. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of golf’s Top 50 instructors and gain valuable insight into every aspect of your game. If you are looking to sharpen your skills this season, I highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

COUPLES CUP

The Couples Cup takes place on July 12th and remains one of the most enjoyable events on our calendar. This event always provides the perfect combination of competition, teamwork, and fun, and we look forward to another great turnout.

MEN’S INVITATIONAL

Our Men’s Invitational begins with a practice round on July 22nd, followed by tournament play July 23rd–25th . This is the premier event of the season and always delivers incredible competition and unforgettable memories. We’re excited to welcome a full field of 60 teams, the most teams in history as they compete for one of the most prestigious titles at Cullasaja. We are excited about the continued progress of our new activity center which will include our TrackMan Golf simulator project, including the virtual mapping of Cullasaja. This technology will provide an incredible year-round training and entertainment experience, allowing members to practice, improve, and experience our golf course in a completely new way.

FASTER FAIRWAYS, SMARTER MAINTENANCE Making the Most of a Dry Summer Meet Our Newest Crew Members

This season we elected to have a trial with 4 autonomous mowers. They are responsible for the rough on #9, rough around the Short Game Practice area, rough around 10 tees, a portion of the rough on 18.

I hope you are enjoying the course this season. To date, it has been on the dry side which gives us the opportunity to manage the water leading to much firmer faster conditions. Living in a rain forest, we seldom have prolonged periods of time where we are solely in charge of the water falling on the course. Dry conditions do lead to challenges getting just the right amount in all the right places and we continually adjust the irrigation system and supplementing isolated areas with a good old-fashioned hose.

Additionally, we have one that can mow at fairway height. For the last month, that mower has mowed the short turf on the Short Game area, the tee boxes on #10 and the second half of the fairway on 18.

Promising Results and Future Possibilities

Like any new technology, there is a learning curve in getting them to do exactly what we want, when we want it. Overall, there have only been a handful of adjustments we have made since the initial programming, and we are very impressed with the quality of the turf they maintain. In late May we had a stretch of 7 days that dropped 12” of rain on the course. During that time the robots were never parked and kept the turf mowed without causing any damage. If you take a minute to watch them, you wouldn’t think they were doing anything more that just roaming around the course when in fact they are just trimming the tops of the turf each day leading to very consistent conditions. We have been so impressed that we are working with the manufacturer to generate a plan on what it would take to have all the rough and tee boxes mowed autonomously. If implemented, this would lead to nearly perfectly mowed rough and tees daily regardless of weather conditions. The obvious benefit would be the improved quality of turf; the side benefit would be freeing up staff to tend to tasks that we never seem to have time for after completing the weekly mowing procedures.

As we move into July, I would like to thank all of our members for helping make the start of the season such a success. The lawns have been active, our weekly programs have been well attended, and it has been wonderful to see both familiar faces and new players embracing the game. June gave us a tremendous start to the championship season, and July promises even more exciting competition, social play, and opportunities to grow the croquet community at Cullasaja.

Our Inter-Club schedule continues throughout the summer as Cullasaja competes against neighboring clubs from across the Plateau. These events provide an excellent opportunity to represent Cullasaja, enjoy friendly competition, and strengthen relationships with fellow croquet players throughout the region. They also provide valuable preparation as we work toward the Mountain Challenge, the premier Inter-Club championship of the summer. INTER-CLUB SEASON IS UNDERWAY UPCOMING JULY INTERCLUB MATCHES Registration for Inter-Club matches open on the first day of each month through the Member App. We encourage members to sign up early, as these events require advance planning and coordination with our host clubs. Sign-ups are limited to the first 8 participants to register.

Our first Club Championship of the season was a tremendous success. Members enjoyed two days of competitive and spirited play, culminating in exciting semifinal and championship matches. INTRO TO CROQUET CONTINUES TO GROW

One of the most important parts of our program remains the weekly Intro to Croquet clinic. Every Wednesday, members have the opportunity to learn the game in a relaxed and welcoming environment. These sessions continue to be the primary way new players are introduced to croquet and are essential to the long term growth of our program.

If you know a member who has expressed curiosity about croquet, please encourage them to attend. A personal invitation remains the most effective way to grow the game.

INTERNATIONAL CROQUET EXHIBITION MATCH Cullasaja recently hosted an exciting international exhibition on Saturday, June 27th featuring Croquet Director Brian Lozano against World #1 ranked player Matthew Essick. Members enjoyed the rare opportunity to watch championship-level croquet while both competitors were mic'd throughout the match, providing insight into strategy, shot selection, and life on the international croquet circuit. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.

A BUSY START TO THE 2026 TENNIS SEASON: Cooler-than usual temperatures made for a slow start in May, but since June 1, activity on the courts has picked up with busy doubles play in both the mornings and afternoons. Heather has been leading lessons and clinics with support from our new tennis assistants and shop attendants—Laura and Lydia Holland and Maci Stork—and are often on the courts with both junior and adult members early in the day and throughout the afternoon. We’ve added a Thursday afternoon tennis session at 1:30 p.m. for more experienced men and women players who wish to play singles and doubles. Thank you again for our new tennis shed as it has quickly become an important part of daily operations, offering convenient storage and protection for both new and used tennis balls, as well as space for tools and court water containers. THE WELCOME HOME / NEW TENNIS MEMBER MIXER

The Welcome Home and New Tennis Member Mixer and luncheon on June 5 marked our first major event of the 2026 tennis season and drew a large crowd. More than 20 players joined the social mixer, creating a lively turnout. Afterward, members enjoyed a French-themed luncheon and a tennis clothing trunk show featuring designer clothing while watching the French Open on the Tennis Shop television. Special thanks to Jessica Spaulding and her team, along with tennis committee members Camille Collier and Pam Burge, for helping make this French Open-themed event such a success.

The Ladies’ Member-Guest Tennis Tournament and Luncheon on June 19th lived up to its reputation as a highlight of the ladies’ tennis season. This year’s Candy Land theme, created by Camille Collier, Pam Burge, Jessica Spaulding was a standout. This season we chose to expand registration to accommodate 12 teams due to it’s growing popularity. Players fully embraced the theme—sipping sparkling wine and dressing in their favorite team colors. The Mediterranean luncheon that followed was equally spectacular, as the photos show.

Men’s Invitational: Bourbon and Doubles will be held on Tuesday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m. The tennis committee has placed special emphasis on men’s events this season to encourage stronger participation. Because the event falls on a Tuesday when the kitchen is open, attendees will enjoy steak and bourbon chicken sandwiches with their guests courtside. New this year, participants will have the chance to sample some of the club’s premium bourbons between matches and after the event (Woodford, Basil Hayden, etc.). SATURDAY, JULY 4 TH

Join us for a great way to celebrate America’s Independence Day. Whether you are an avid runner, or want to join friends, family, and dogs, for a social walk, this event is the perfect way to start the day. Please arrive by 6:45 a.m. for registration before 7 a.m. Start. There will be a 90-minute time limit to complete the course. Start and finish will be at the Fairway Café. Event cost is $30 per person, which includes an event gift. Or you can join the fun for free without a gift. To register, please use the Cullasaja App, or contact the Wellness Center.

GUIDED HIKE: RAINBOW FALLS Photo from Scaly Mountain Hike SATURDAY, JULY 25TH Starting at 9:00 a.m. The Rainbow Falls trail is a really nice deep woods hike that begins in Gorges State Park and ends in Pisgah National Forest at either Rainbow Falls or Turtleback Falls. The trail offers beautiful views of towering Rainbow Falls, which stands approximately 200 feet, as well as popular swimming spot, Turtleback Falls. This hike is rated difficult, not based on length, but due to the hilly nature of the trail. Distance of the trail is 3.5 miles round-trip and is approximately 35 minutes travel time by car to the trailhead. Please pack a snack and plenty of water for each hike.
