GOLF UPDATE - CHARLES BEURMANN

We had an awesome July 4th week on the course. It was great to see all the family members here enjoying their summer! We had so many fun events and crowned many new champions. Our WGA Interclub was a tremendous success. We had 94 ladies attend, which, according to my records, was the most we have ever had. Thank you to the WGA for everything they did to make the event such a successful one. We are hosting 9-Hole interclub on August 13th at 10:30 a.m. If you would like to participate, please contact the starter to sign up. The men’s interclub against Burlingame was not as exciting. Our men played their hearts out, but Burlingame was too strong. They were defeated 17 ½ to ½ at

Burlingame on July 13th. Please join us for our next match against High Hampton on August 14th & 15th. Our annual Couples Cup was contested on Sunday July 14th. Congratulations to our 18-Hole Champions, Jill & Jim Huston and Susan & Tom Ward on their impressive modified best ball score of 118. Their score was six strokes better than our second-place team Georgie & Rick Taylor and Cindy & Jack Kuykendall. Christa & John Chain and Karen & Andy Robets won our 9-Hole division shooting a modified best ball 58! Thank you to all that participated. Our second WGA major tournament is in the books! Congratulations to Presidents Cup winners! Susan Ward won our 18-hole division and Ann Julian won our 9-Hole division. I hope all WGA ladies can join us for the Patriots Cup on July 30th. Please note that this event was rescheduled to July 30th instead of August 6th. Many of our ladies will be traveling to Highlands Country Club for interclub so this date change will allow more ladies to enjoy our Ryder Cup inspired major. Unfortunately, Mother Nature cut short our July Shoot-out after two holes. We encourage everyone to come out for our final Shoot-Out on August 24th at 4pm. Even if you don’t want to play, it’s fun to grab a cocktail and watch the fireworks! We have our first ever “Three Club” tournament Friday, August 2nd. The format will be Better Ball of Partners at 100% handicap. Grab a friend and sign up for this remarkable opportunity to test your skills and patience. If you are interested in participating, please contact the starter with your team. Time will tell if anyone can take down defending Club Champion, Clay Alliston! The 2024 Club Championship will be contested on August 9th & 10th. Please sign up if you wish to test your skills against the Club’s best players. Join us at Kellermans for the 2024 WGA Member-Guest on August 22nd & 23rd, which will be our final invitational event of the year. Our Dirty Dancing themed event is going to be one you don’t want to miss. Please contact Chairwoman, Karen Robert,s if you are interested in playing and don’t have a partner. The 2024 Men’s Invitational was one for the record books! Mother nature threw everything she had at us. Hats off to all the men that grinded through the difficult conditions. Greg Pater & Rick Crawford played their hearts out, but Jim Moore & Bob Fisher were just too tough. The shootout ended in a tie requiring us to play a sudden death hole. The drama proved too intense making the two teams play two sudden death holes. Congratulations Jim and Bob, you truly are deserving champions!
