I am concerned with the number of rental properties we have in Cullasaja Club. I understand there is nothing that can be done if an owner wants to rent his/her property. What really concerns me is the fact the "renters have club privileges" through the owner's member #. What happened to our "private club status? ...that prospective members, "someone using/joining the club", must be vetted by the members? What do we know about renters who use the owners' member #?

Thanks for taking care of us. Long term we could probably update the clubhouse furnishings to make them a bit more contemporary. I would love to see us attract more young members which would bring a new dynamic to the club as well as potential longer term members.

It seems the Board, and specifically the golf committee, aggressively planned too many "improvements" to the course apparently betting on the flow of new member fees to continue indefinitely. These golf course projects proceeded, as always, much needed improvements to several other amenities in the club that have been neglected for years. So when it came time for the other amenities (thank God), money was running short. Now we are expanding debt. Yes, members voted on the debt, but that was a foregone conclusion when the alternative was assessments. Instead of things like 6 tees on every hole and a poorly designed and constructed range reconstruction, perhaps the golf course money would have been better spent (and less money overall) focusing on needed bunker reconstruction (which was done) and other things like repaving all the cart paths which are going to have to be repaved soon - and will now likely add to debt. A more fiscally responsible approach would have likely been to do the first two phases of the golf course and then wait on the unnecessary things like the range and short game areas until it was apparent the funds would be available for all club needs. Looking forward to the new fitness center finally. We hope it actually turns out well. I understand that changing the back nine of the golf course to the front nine is under consideration. I think this is a TERRIBLE idea. Having to start on #10 which entails hitting over a gully and a sloping fairway that is very unfair to an average player or high handicapper, followed up by #13, #15, #16 and #18, will be very discouraging to higher handicap players and will cut down on their enjoyment and use of the course. It also does not put out best foot forward when introducing guests to the course. We are already known as a difficult course. Let's let everyone enjoy our less difficult and frankly more beautiful front nine, before having to meet the challenges of the current back nine which can be very discouraging. Before a step as drastic as this is undertaken, I believe a vote of the full golfing membership should be taken.
