2023 CROQUET SEASON
To Our Wonderful Croquet Loving Cullasaja Club Members,
On behalf of the entire Cullasaja Club team, here’s an advance welcome to our 2023 Croquet Season. 2022 was filled with great memories with enhanced competition and camaraderie. As Terry and I planned for 2023, we programmed a full season of events (enclosed) catering to players of all skill levels. And most of all, these events were thoughtfully curated with a healthy balance of fun and competition.
Additionally, please be assured that Terry will still have a limited but active role with us in 2023. He will be available to help with beginner instruction and other roles throughout the summer.
As we turn the Cullasaja Club calendar to 2023 season, we simultaneously thank you for your collective support of the croquet program. We look forward to making and sharing more memories in 2023.
All Our Very Best,
Brian Lozano Croquet Director
Terry Fugate Assistant Croquet Professional

CUSTOMS & CULTURES
General Do not litter. Please place all garbage in the trashcan in the Croquet Pavilion.
1371 Cullasaja Club Drive | HIGHLANDS, N.C. 28741 | (828) 526-3531 | WWW.CULLASAJACLUB.ORG Membership is available in the Cullasaja Croquet Association for an annual fee. You do not have to be a member of the CCA to use the lawn during open play periods of time. For any CCA sanctioned event you are allowed to come once as a guest. Croquet Dress Code For all Cullasaja Croquet Association (CCA) events there is an all-white dress code requirement and soft soled white shoes must be worn to preserve the integrity of the lawn. During open play periods of time and for non CCA events we would ask that if you do not have all whites that you conform to standard country club casual attire. This attire would be like what you might wear to play golf or tennis at the Club. All shirts must remain tucked in, and we ask you to please wear all hats or caps facing forward. We would also ask that soft soled shoes to be worn while on the lawns, even for non CCA events, to help us preserve the integrity of the lawn. Lawn Reservation Policies & Procedures Reservations for “The Lawn” may be made through the Croquet Shop. Except for weekly scheduled events and inter-club events, courts may be reserved up to 5 days in advance for a period of one and a half hours. During holiday weekends and or during peak times courts may be double banked whenever necessary. The Lawn is available for play from 8:00 a.m. until dusk. Each day, there are scheduled events that will take up lawn space. Occasionally the lawn may need to be closed for mowing and agronomy reasons, but generally the lawn will be open 7 days a week during the times specified above. The Cullasaja Croquet Association has the right to reserve the court for all sanctioned croquet events published in the Newsletter or the Weekly schedule of events. The Lawns are for the enjoyment of all Cullasaja members and their families. All guests, whenever possible, should be accompanied by a Cullasaja member. Reservations are not mandatory but please remember that those who do make reservations will have priority over the lawn. Use of the Lawn for any purpose other than croquet is prohibited. Exceptions No tee shirts allowed while playing on the lawn. must have written approval from the General Manager. Cullasaja Croquet Association (the CCA)
CUSTOMS & CULTURES

Engaging in or using rude, vulgar, threatening, harassing, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate behavior that disturbs others, interferes with the planning, or conduct of a Club activity or event, or disturbs the enjoyment of the Club byMembers and their invited guests will not be tolerated. General Guidelines & Etiquette All play is conducted under the rules of the United States Croquet Association. For non CCA events, we would ask all players to return the mallets and balls back to the Croquet Pavilion at the conclusion of play. If you are playing on the upper lawns, please return mallets and balls to the storage box on that level. Please refrain from excessive noise while on the lawn. When others are playing a match, we would ask that you walk around the outside border of the Lawn rather than across the Lawn where they are playing a match. Fees and Services These services are available only to members, family members and guests of members. Individual lessons and clinics are available upon request. Custom mallet fitting services are also available and use of our demo mallets. Guest Fees There are no guest fees during open play periods of time for members or vertical members or those who have designated user status. For guests who do not meet these criteria there is a $10.00 per person per day guest fee to play on the lawn. Pets Pets are always prohibited from the lawn. Lightning Prediction System “Thor-Guard” The Club is equipped with a lightning prediction system. If you hear a 10-second horn blast, a potential lightning strike may be imminent, and you should seek shelter immediately. Do not rely solely on the horns and if dangerous weather looks imminent, please seek safe shelter away from croquet grounds immediately. If you hear three consecutive 5-second blasts, the conditions have improved and, if you feel safe, continue your outdoor activities.
