As we enter the month of August, the staff and I want to thank you for your support of the Club. To a “T”, we are all grateful for the amazing opportunity to serve you; and we look forward to the 2 nd half of the season where we can continue to create remarkable and memorable moments for you, your friends, and family. A quick glance inside this newsletter will show you the robust activities and events we have planned for your enjoyment in August and the months that follow.

The front cover of this newsletter shows you a view that I think we sometimes forget is here. The Butler Overlook is such a spectacular place and I hope you take opportunities to visit it and take in all the beauty of the mountains. Did you know the old Kelsey-Hutchinson Trail goes right in front of the overlook? This is also the spot of the Appalachian Divide, which is now denoted with a historical marker (see photo). There is a point as you walk towards the Butler Overlook where all water flows either southwest (ending in the Gulf of Mexico), or southeast (ending in the Atlantic Ocean). Take a look at the marker on your next visit to our community’s remarkable overlook.

I want to officially congratulate our Croquet Director, Brian Lozano, for winning the Canadian Open Golf Croquet Championship in Toronto last month. Brian beat Canada’s top ranked player 7-2 and 7-1 to claim the Championship. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and we are all very happy for Brian. See his article in the following pages for a play by play of his championship victory. Thank you again for your support of the Cullasaja Club and being a special part of our Club’s incredible culture. We firmly believe our members to be the most genuine and friendly group of people on the mountain, and the entire staff counts their blessings each day to be able to serve you and see you enjoy all the Club has to offer.
